SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The No. 45 ranked Lewis University men's tennis team advanced to the semifinals of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament with a 5-1 win over Maryville Friday (April 20) in a GLVC quarterfinal match.

The Flyers, seeded No. 2 in the East Division, got off to a great start by sweeping the doubles portion of the competition over the Saints, the No. 3 seed in the West. The tandem of
Alan Braschinsky (Tallinn, Estonia/Milna Harma) and
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia), ranked No. 7 in the nation by the ITA, defeated Juan Segura and Louis Glaves 8-6,
Anton Levitin (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) and
Andre Norasith (Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) took down Fernado Orea and Donovan McKnight 8-2 and
Brendan Peterson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) and
Chandler Stimpert (Graceland, Ill./Morton) beat Jack Beuttell-Triggs and Bodin Aleksic 9-8 (7-1).

In singles, No. 38 Braschinsky posted a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Beuttell-Triggs at No. 1 and Lusti won 7-6, 2-0 (retired) over Segura.

It is the fifth straight win for the Flyers, who move to 12-9 on the year and are ranked No. 4 in the Midwest Region. Maryville, ranked No. 10 in the region, falls to 7-8.

The Flyers will face off with Drury, the top seed in the west, Saturday (April 21) at 10 a.m. Drury defeated Lewis 5-4 earlier this year.
