East Peoria, Ill. - The No. 15 Lewis University women's volleyball team advanced to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament semifinals with the 25-17, 28-26, 25-18 sweep over Quincy University in a quarterfinal match-up at the EastSide Centre on Friday (Nov. 18) afternoon.
With the win, Lewis improves to 25-6 and extends its winning streak to nine matches. The Flyers take on #2W Truman State at 2:30 PM on Saturday (Nov. 19). Quincy ends 2016 with a mark of 16-15.
Lewis redshirt sophomore setter
Abby Becker (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) narrowly missed a triple double with a match-high 39 assists to go along with 10 digs and nine kills. Becker had a hitting percentage of .900 (9 kills, 0 errors, 10 attacks).
Lewis sophomore outside hitter
Elizabeth Hyland (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) picked up a double-double of 10 kills and 15 digs, while GLVC Player of the Year
Aly Schneider (Granger, Ind./Penn) hit .409 (10-1-22) on the afternoon. Flyer redshirt senior libero
Nicole Yuede (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) had a match-high 20 digs.
As a team, Lewis hit .282 (54 kills, 19 errors, 124 attacks), while the Hawks managed to hit .133 (33-17-120).
