Tyler Mitchell was promoted to the associate athletic director for development in August 2025. Prior to the promotion, he served as the leadership gift officer for athletics for three years.
In his new role, Mitchell will lead all athletic development initiatives in collaboration with University Advancement, including annual giving, major gifts, capital campaigns, and donor stewardship and lead the department's corporate sponsorship program, securing and fulfilling agreements that drive revenue and exposure. He will also oversee all external operations, including marketing and promotions, strategic communications, media relations, and digital engagement.
Under Mitchell’s leadership, Lewis Athletics has produced over $1.2 million in gifts towards athletics since his start, which includes revamping the Athletic Annual Funds Campaign which saw record breaking numbers of gifts and donors.
Prior to joining Lewis University, he was a Client Sales Representative at Robert Edward Auctions where he oversaw over 150 clients throughout the Midwest region which led to over $3 million in consignments during his time at Robert Edward Auctions.
Mitchell started his career at Rice University in Houston, Texas where he oversaw student philanthropy and the Telefund program. He oversaw the Senior Gift Campaign which saw over 45% of seniors participate as well as having the largest day of giving in the history of the campaign.
The University of Toledo and West Virginia graduate from Wheaton, IL resides in Chicago with his Cheyanne and their dog, Sokka.
