Romeoville, Ill. - After her performance at the Battle of the Beach hosted by Alderson Broaddus, Rachel Sweeney (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) of Lewis University women's golf earned Great Lakes Valley Conference Golf Player of the Week honors.

Sweeney finished in first place with 151 (78, 73), helping lead the way to a Flyers tournament victory of 630 (316, 314).

"Rachel is very deserving of this Player of the Week award, having played an exceptional tournament in Myrtle Beach, especially her closing 73 which featured only 3 bogeys and 2 birdies." Lewis women's golf head coach Skip Steffey said. " As always her consistency made her performance that much more impressive on a golf course with small, tough, grainy greens."

This is Sweeney's first career GLVC Player of the Week award.

Lewis will next compete at the Perry Park Spring Fling tournament March 25-26 in Perry Park, KY.
