Indianapolis, Ind. - The Lewis University men's soccer team tied Southern Indiana 1-1 after two overtimes, but fell 4-1 in penalty kicks in a Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament semifinal game Friday (Nov. 3) at Carroll Stadium.
The game will be recorded as a tie in the standings.
Nico Mueller (Braunschweig, Germany/Raabeschule Braunschweig) opened the scoring for the Flyers (12-4-2) off a corner kick at the 72:07 mark. It was the 13th goal of the season for Mueller and the 20th of his career.
Southern Indiana (11-6-1) came right back on a goal from Adam Becker, assisted by Jonathan Faas, to tie the game at 1-1 at the 73:37 mark.
Each team recorded a shot on goal in the overtime periods.
In the shootout, USI converted all four of its attempts. Mueller tallied the lone shootout conversion for Lewis.
USI had a 13-12 shot advantage for the game, while the Flyers had a 6-5 corner kick edge.

Timm Adler (Frankenthal Rheinland-Pfalz Germany/Karolinen-Gymnasium Frankenthal) added three shots for Lewis.
Philip Huang (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) stopped three shots in goal for the Flyers.
