Romeoville, Ill. - Lewis University sophomore forward
Rachel Hinders (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) registered a double-double of 17 points and a career-high 15 rebounds to help the Flyer women's basketball team rally from a 16-point, second quarter deficit and earn the 71-57 regional victory over Purdue Northwest at Neil Carey Arena on Wednesday (Nov. 22).
Hinders was 8-for-13 from the field and seven of her rebounds were of the offensive variety.
Lewis junior forward
Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) and sophomore guard
Carly Graverson (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) each scored 14 points and grabbed four rebounds. Kelliher added four blocks and three steals.
Flyer junior guard
Gabby Green (Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI) filled up the stat sheet with 12 points, seven assists, six rebounds and a steal in the victory.
With the win, Lewis improves to 3-2 on the campaign, while the Pride falls to 0-3 on the season.
After surrendering 21 points in the first quarter, the Flyer defense buckled down and held Purdue Northwest to 23 points for the entire second half. Lewis forced 19 turnovers for the game and scored 23 points off of the PNW turnovers.
For the game, Lewis shot 40.5% (30-for-74), while the Pride knocked down 33.8% (22-for-65) of their attempts.
Purdue Northwest's Michaela Kikendall hit six three-pointers to finish with a game-high 22 points for the Pride.
Lewis returns to action on Sunday (Nov. 26), as the Flyers head to Big Rapids, Mich., for a 1 PM ET showdown with Ferris State.
