East Peoria, Ill. - The No. 3 Lewis University women's volleyball team earned its league-best 10th trip to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship, as the top-seeded Flyers claimed the 25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 25-11 victory over fifth-seeded Illinois Springfield in a GLVC Semifinal match-up at the EastSide Centre on Saturday (Nov. 18).
Lewis and Rockhurst will meet on Sunday (Nov. 18) at noon for the title, in a rematch of the 2012 GLVC Championship showdown.
Lewis junior outside hitter
Elizabeth Hyland (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) led the Flyers with a double-double of 17 kills and 10 digs, along with five block assists. Hyland hit .293 (17 kills, 5 errors, 41 attacks) and added a service ace.
Flyer sophomore outside hitter
Alexandra Preuss (Elmhurst, Ill./York) posted 13 kills, while senior middle hitter
Aly Schneider (Granger, Ind./Penn) and redshirt senior right side
Maddie Seliga (St. Louis, Mo./Nerinx Hall) both notched 12 putaways. Seliga added 17 digs for a double-double.
With the win, Lewis improves to 30-2 on the campaign, while UIS ends its season with a record of 22-11.

Ronni Katarzynski (Winfield, Ill./West Chicago) collected a match-high 18 digs.
Lewis hit .285 (60-17-151) for the match, while the Prairie Stars registered a hitting percentage of .167 (50-24-156).
