2017-18 GLVC Preseason Poll

Romeoville, Ill. -
The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced on Wednesday (Nov. 1) that the Lewis University women's basketball team has been picked to finish second in the GLVC East Division in the annual GLVC Preseason Coaches Poll.

Southern Indiana was picked to win the division with 54 points and five first place votes. Lewis also garnered five first place votes but finished with 51 total points. Maryville was selected as the GLVC Central Division favorite, while Drury was a unanimous choice to capture the GLVC West Division title.

"The GLVC is one of the best conferences in the nation," Lewis head women's basketball coach Samantha Quigley Smith said. "Each night is going to be a competitive contest and that will only make us better as a team."

Lewis returns junior forward and All-American Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) to the line-up. Kelliher, the 2017 GLVC Player of the Year, led the conference in scoring (19.7 ppg.) and scored in double-figures in 31 out of 32 games last season, including 15 games of 20+ points and three games of 30+ points. She also converted a school-record and NCAA best 65.2% (258-for-396) of her shots.

Lewis opens the 2017-18 campaign on November 10th, as the Flyers welcome Hillsdale to Neil Carey Arena for a 3 PM tip-off.
