Romeoville, Ill. - The final home meet of the season for Lewis University Men's Swimming was quite eventful ending with a win against Valparaiso 204-58.
The day started by honoring team seniors Aiden Brennan,
Trent Chamness (Elkhart, Ind./Concord),
Bryant Jacobs (Pacifica, Calif./Terra Nova),
Johnny Lynk (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point),
Quin Poti (Orlando, Fla./Timber Creek),
Dan Szakovits (Melbourne Beach, Fla./Melbourne),
Brandon Thoman (Marco Island, Fla./Brarron Collier), and
Adam Wise (Ocala, Fla./Forest).
Jacobs took first in the 1000 yard freestyle with 9:43.60 as well as the 100 freestyle with 48.09. Chamness also contributed to a second place win in the 200 medley relay finishing in 1:39.67.
For the Flyers the highlight of the day came from the multiple record setting performances by members of the team.
In the 200 yard medley relay swam by
Mads Knoblauch (Svenborg, Denmark/Svenborg Gymnasium), Poti,
Colin Williams (Elk Grove, Ill./Elk Grove), and Wise set the pool record with 1:32.08. For the 200 butterfly Thoman, set the pool record with 1:52.78. Knoblauch set the pool record for the 200 backstroke finishing in 1:50.64. In the 400 IM Poti finished in 4:01.96 to set the pool record. Finally in the 400 freestyle relay the pool record was set by Wise, Szakovits, Brennan, and Poti. Wise also set the pool and school lead leg record (44.76).
Lewis will compete next in the GLVC Championships Feb. 8 through 11.
