St. Charles, Mo. - No. 4 Lewis University's school-record tying 23-game winning streak came to an end, as No. 22 Quincy University upset the top-seeded Flyers, 59-54, in the 2016 Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Basketball Semifinals at Family Arena on Saturday (March 4).
"(Quincy) is a great opponent," Lewis head women's basketball coach
Kristen Gillespie said. "(Quincy) had a great game plan and they had a few more stops than us and made a few more shots.
"They deserve all the credit."
Quincy senior center Erin Mennemeyer and junior guard Nikia Edom (4 3PT FGs) each posted a game-high 14 points for the Hawks, while sophomore forward Anika Webster pitched in 10 points off of the bench.
With the victory, Quincy improves to 25-4 and advances to Sunday's GLVC Championship contest with Bellarmine. Lewis falls to 28-2 on the campaign and will learn their NCAA Regional destination on Sunday night at 9 PM. The link for the selection show can be found

Quincy did a solid job defensively on 2016 GLVC Player of the Year
Mariyah Brawner-Henley (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) and GLVC Freshman of the Year,
Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) as the duo combined to shoot 10-for-32 from the floor. Brawner (6-for-15) finished with her 71st career double-double with 12 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, while Kelliher was 4-for-17 from the floor and finished with 10 points and five rebounds. Brawner-Henley is now three points shy of becoming Lewis' all-time leading scorer.
As a team, Lewis shot 38.3% (23-for-60) from the field and 25% (4-for-16) from three-point range. The Flyers went to the free throw line a season-low six times, while the Hawks made 20-of-24 from the charity stripe.
The Flyers also did well defensively, as they limited Quincy to a 29.6% (16-for-54) shooting performance from the floor and 35.0% (7-for-20) from beyond the arc.
In a game that featured 17 lead changes in the first three quarters, Quincy took the lead for good thanks to a 14-2 run. Mennemeyer scored six points during that span of 6:42 that lasted over the third and fourth quarters, giving the Hawks a 49-41 lead that they would not relinquish.
