ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Former Lewis University men's volleyball student-athlete Greg Petty (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) has signed a contract to play professional volleyball for Leka Volley in Kuopio, Finland. Petty concluded his four-year Lewis career in May, helping the Flyers finish as national runner-up.

"I am very excited to continue my volleyball career after college," Petty said. "Finland is a great league to play in and Leka is looking to be a great place to start my pro career so I can prosper even more as a player. I will be joining two other Americans, Chris Austin and Kris Johnson, so I will feel right at home."

Petty played for Lewis from 2012-15. He finished his career as a Flyer third in aces (121) and 10^th in kills (972). In 2015 he was named an American Volleyball Coaches Association Second Team All-American. He was an honorable mention selection in 2014.
 
"I'm excited and proud of Greg," Lewis head coach Dan Friend said. "It was a life goal of his to play professionally. It will be fun to follow him on this next phase of his life."

Kuopio, Finland is in central Finland. It is the eighth most populated city in the country with just over 100,000 residents.
