Romeoville, Ill. – The No. 11 Lewis University men's volleyball team led the conference with five Flyers named to the 2014 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association All-Conference Teams, the league announced on Wednesday (April 16).

Redshirt senior setter
BJ Boldog (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) and redshirt junior outside hitter
Geoff Powell (Claremont, Calif./Claremont) were selected to the first team. Junior outside hitter
Greg Petty (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North), junior libero
Lucas Yanez (Burbank, Calif./John Burroughs) and sophomore middle blocker
Bobby Walsh (Chicago, Ill./Mount Carmel) picked up second team honors.
Boldog, netting his third-straight All-MIVA First Team honor, became the Flyers assist leader during the Flyers the rally-scoring era and is third all-time with 4,208 career assists this season. He led the Flyers to a .335 hitting percentage (1,240 K, 402 E, 2,499 TA), second in the country and the best during Friend's tenure. It is the best since the 2003 squad hit .380 (1,945, 556 E, 3,660 TA). Boldog averaged 10.1 assists, 0.96 digs and 0.85 blocks-per-set, the best of any MIVA setter this season.
Powell, a two-time All-MIVA First Team honoree, posted a career-high 32 kills against Ball State (March 29) which is the most in the league this season. Powell, who had 18 matches with at least 10 kills, leads the MIVA with 222 total putaways to average 3.78 kills-per-set. Powell was a two-time MIVA Offensive Player of the Week this season, with his most recent award coming on April 1
st.
Walsh earns second team honors for the second-straight season. He is second in the MIVA with 124 total blocks (16 solo, 110 BA) and third in the nation averaging 1.35 blocks-per-set. Walsh posted career-highs in putways (13) against IPFW (Feb. 20), block assists (10) against George Mason (March 14) and solo blocks (3) against Pacific (Jan. 11).
Petty wraps up the regular season in the top-five in the league with 3.53 kills and 0.32 service aces-per-set. He tallied 18 double-figure kill matches including posting a career-high 27 putaways against IPFW (March 27). Petty was named an American Volleyball Coaches Association Player of the Week on Jan. 28
th after he posted a .600 (25 K, 4 E, 35 TA) hitting percentage in victories over Harvard and Sacred Heart.
Yanez, a two-time MIVA Defensive Player of the Week honoree this season, posted a league's best .969 reception percentage (8 E, 257 TA, 52 sets). He tallied eight double-figure dig matches as he averaged 2.33 digs with a career-high 15 digs against Ball State (March 29).
The No. 11 Flyers (21-6) open the 2014 MIVA Tournament on Friday (April 18) when they host Grand Canyon (14-17) for a 7 PM first serve at Neil Carey Arena.
