Complete List of AVCA All-America

Romeoville, Ill. – Lewis University redshirt junior setter BJ Boldog (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) and redshirt sophomore outside hitter Geoff Powell (Claremont, Calif./Claremont) (Claremont, Calif./Claremont) were named to the 2013 American Volleyball Coaches Association Division I-II Men's Volleyball All-America Second Team, the AVCA announced on Thursday (April 25).
 
This marks the second-straight season Lewis has had members earn the honor, and have had a total of 12 players in program history named as All-Americans.
 
“These two guys are well deserving of the honor,” Lewis head men's volleyball coach Dan Friend said. “It is a great honor for both of them and for the team.”
 
Earning his second All-America honor, Boldog's 10.36 assists-per-set places him in the top-10 nationally and 141 digs has him fourth on the Flyers. He also earned MIVA All-Conference First Team honors.
 
“BJ has had to manage the offense with some different personnel this year,” Friend said. “He's done a fantastic job helping us win games day-in and day-out.”
 
Powell averages 3.66 kills per set, which is 13th nationally, and is third on the team in digs (165) and blocks (73). He has been named MIVA Player of the Week three times this season as well as MIVA All-Conference First Team.
 
“Geoff has been a huge offensive threat for us this season,” Friend said. “He's carried a lot of the load for us at different times.”
 
The No. 9 Flyers host No. 12 Loyola in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Championship on Saturday (April 27) at Neil Carey Arena. First serve is set for 7 PM. The winner advances to the National Semifinals next week in Los Angeles.
