Romeoville, Ill. - The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced on Tuesday (Apr. 16) that Lewis University junior
Zsofia Lanstiak (Budapest, Hungary/Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium) (Budapest, Hungary/Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium) has been named the GLVC Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the period ending April 14th.
Lanstiak has won the award four out of the eight times it has been given out this season by the conference. She has won her last 17 singles matches and owns an overall record of 21-1. In doubles action, she and teammate
Zsofia Kranczicki (Eger, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Gimnazium es Kollegium) (Eger, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Gimnazium es Kollegium), have won 10 in a row and own a mark of 20-2.
"It is awesome that Zso is again recognized by the GLVC," Lewis head women's tennis coach
Brett Bridel said. "She continues to get the job done in both singles and doubles."
Last week, Lanstiak helped the Flyers to wins over McKendree, Bellarmine and Ferris State with victories over all three of her opponents at No. 1 singles and all three No. 1 doubles tandems. Among her singles victories was a 6-2, 6-2 win over Ferris State's Ana Jan - who is ranked No. 15 in the Midwest Region.
Lewis opens the 2013 GLVC Women's Tennis Tournament against William Jewell on Friday (Apr. 19). First serve is set for 8:30 AM at the Barbara S. Wynne Tennis Center at North Central High School in Indianapolis, Ind.
