Romeoville, Ill. - The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced on Tuesday (Feb. 26) that Lewis University sophomore
Erik Aunapuu (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) has been selected as the GLVC Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the period ending February 24th.
This is Aunapuu's second career GLVC Player of the Week award.
Aunapuu played key role in helping the No. 33 Flyers to a 6-3 regional victory over Michigan Tech last Friday (Feb. 22), as he earned two wins. At No. 1 doubles, Aunapuu teamed up with classmate
Armand Levandi (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) for the 8-1 win over MTU's Pedro Rodriguez and Felipe dos Santos. He would later defeat dos Santos, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 1 singles.
The Estonian native is now 4-1 in singles play this season and 2-1 in doubles action.
Lewis returns to action on Thursday (Feb. 28), as the Flyers welcome Lake Superior State to Challenge Fitness in Lockport, Ill., for a 9 PM showdown.
