Romeoville, Ill. -
Two days after being named to the Daktronics, Inc. All-Midwest Region Softball First Team, Lewis' Jayme Hefler (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) claimed her third NFCA Division II All-Midwest Region First Team award on Thursday (May 10) afternoon.

Hefler is now eligible for All-America consideration. The 2012 NFCA Division II All-American teams will be announced on NFCA.org on the evening of Wednesday, May 16. As a freshman, Hefler was named to the NFCA All-America Second Team.

This past season, Hefler led the Flyers with a .415 batting average, including a team-best 73 hits, 49 runs scored, .493 on-base percentage and 35 stolen bases on her way to All-GLVC East First Team accolades.

"Jayme has proven for three years now that she is one of the finest outfielders in the nation," Lewis head softball coach George DiMatteo said. "It's hard to keep her off of the bases because of her uncanny ability to bunt, slap or swing away for base hits.

"She is just as impressive defensively, as she routinely made one spectacular catch after another this season."
