Lewis' Jayme Hefler Earns All-GLVC Softball Honors For Third-Straight Season

Hefler named to All-GLVC East Division First Team, while junior Alexis Munaco and sophomore Jessica Rourke earn All-GLVC East Second Team accolades.

East Peoria, Ill. - The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced that Lewis University juniors Jayme Hefler (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West), Alexis Munaco (Bloomingdale, Ill./Lake Park) (Bloomingdale, Ill./Lake Park) and sophomore Jessica Rourke (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) all claimed All-GLVC accolades at the GLVC Softball Banquet on Thursday (Apr. 26) night.

The 2012 All-GLVC Softball Teams have been separated by divisions, as the GLVC moved to a two-division conference this season.

Hefler, a two-time All-Conference outfielder, was selected to the All-GLVC East Division First Team. The Glen Ellyn, Ill., native leads the Flyers in batting average (.401), hits (65), runs (46), triples (2), walks (26), on-base percentage (.484) and stolen bases (34). She is second in the GLVC in on-base percentage and runs scored; third in stolen bases; fourth in batting average and hits; and fifth in walks;

Rourke, the reigning Louisville Slugger Division II National Softball Player fo the Week, earned All-GLVC East Division Second Team honors as an outfielder. Rourke is second on the squad in batting average (.369), hits (52), doubles (10), slugging percentage (.496) and leads the Flyers in sacrifice bunts (15). Rourke played a key role in helping the Flyers clinch a berth in this weekend's GLVC Tournament, as the Lockport, Ill., native has batted .579 (22-for-38) with two home runs and 14 RBI in the last 14 games.

Munaco was selected to the All-GLVC East Division Second Team as a designated player. The Bloomingdale, Ill., native appeared in 29 GLVC contests, including 26 starts, where she batted .282 with two home runs and 12 RBI against conference opponents.

Lewis opens up GLVC Tournament play on Friday (Apr. 27), as the No. 6 seeded Flyers (29-22) take on No. 3 seeded Drury (36-17) at 12 p.m. at the Eastside Centre in East Peoria, Ill.
