St. Cloud, Minn. - Jamestown College scored five runs in the top of the fifth inning, highlighted by a two-run homer from designated player Erica Rush, to break up a 2-all tie and earn the 7-4 non-conference victory over the Lewis softball team, in the opening game of the Husky Dome Classic, hosted by St. Cloud State on Friday (Feb. 24) night.

Rush went 2-for-4 with four RBI to lead the Jimmies.

"It was a poorly played game by us today," Lewis head softball coach George DiMatteo said. "We're not going to win many games playing defense the way we did today."

With the win, Jamestown improves to 1-0, while the Flyers are now 2-4 on the campaign.

Lewis senior pitcher Karissa Habel (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) took the loss, as she allowed seven runs on seven hits, while striking out five batters. Habel falls to 0-3 on the campaign. Jamestown pitcher Jessica Lees (1-0) earned the complete-game victory for the Jimmies, scattering eight hits and five walks, while allowing four runs.

Lewis junior shortstop Michelle Vucsko (Chicago, Ill./Marist) (Chicago, Ill./Marist) led the Flyers offensively, as she went 2-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored. Flyer junior left fielder Lauren Hanford (Morris, Ill./Morris) (Morris, Ill./Morris) went 2-for-2 with a RBI, while senior second baseman Alicia McKendry (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 25) morning, as the Flyers take on host St. Cloud State at 10 a.m. The Flyers will return to the field immediately for a 2 p.m. showdown with Augustana (S.D.)
