Northwood's Shaun Rydzewski posted a pair of goals to help lift the visiting Timberwolves to the 3-0 non-conference victory over Lewis University at the Multi-Purpose Athletics Complex on Sunday (Sept. 4) afternoon.

Rydzewski scored on a header in the first half to give the Timberwolves a 1-0 advantage in the 16th minute. The score would remain the same for the next 50 minutes, until Rydzewski would find the back of the net on a sliding score inside the left post at the 76:01 mark to extend Northwood's lead to 2-0.

With the win, Northwood improves to 2-0, while the Flyers remain winless at 0-2.

Mitchell Brent scored the final goal for Northwood, as he put one past Lewis goalkeeper Sebastian Kieruzal (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Hoffman Estates) (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Hoffman Estates) from about 30 yards out at the 81:30 mark.

"Today's game came down to who could execute their gameplan," Lewis head men's soccer coach Evan Fiffles said. "I thought in the second half we dictated the pace and did what we needed to do.

"We just weren't sharp in the final third and we need to finish those opportunities," Fiffles continued. "It's disappointing, but we'll keep working at it and get better each day."

Kieruzal made two saves on the afternoon, while Northwood keeper Matt Renouf turned away a pair of Flyer shots.

Lewis opens Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Friday (Sept. 9), as the Flyers welcome Indianapolis for a 2:30 p.m. (CST) first kick.
