Marquette, Mich. - The Lewis University men's basketball team got the season off on the right foot against Northern Michigan on Tuesday (Nov. 15) evening, as the Flyers shot 53.1% (34-for-64) from the floor and held the Wildcats to a 32.7% (18-for-55) shooting performance on their way to the 87-53 regional victory at the Berry Events Center.
With the victory, Lewis improves to 1-0 on the season, while the host Wildcats are now 1-1 on the campaign.
Lewis senior forward
Justin Jarosz (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) topped the Flyers with a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. Jarosz, who tied his career-high in points scored, knocked down four of his seven three-point attempts.

Scott Trost said. "This was probably one of the best games that Justin has played since he's been here. He did a lot of good things out here tonight."
Seniors
Matt Toth (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) and
Chris McClellan (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Wheeling) (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Wheeling) each scored 12 points in the victory. 12 different Flyers scored on the evening.
With Lewis holding an 18-16 lead in the first half with 10:49 remaining, McClellan (6 points) and Jarosz (5 points) keyed a 14-0 run over the next 5:20 to put the game out of reach for the Wildcats.
Lewis, led by Jarosz, enjoyed a sizeable advantage on the glass, as the Flyers out-rebounded Northern Michigan, 47-27.
"We played well as a team tonight, and I thought we guarded well," Trost said. "Anytime you can win on the road, we'll take it.
"Now we just have to continue getting better."
Northern Michigan freshman forward Haki Stampley topped the Wildcats with 16 points, followed by 12 points from Jared Benson and 11 points by TJ Cameron.
Lewis returns to Romeoville on Saturday (Nov. 19) for their home-opener against Ferris State. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. at Neil Carey Arena.
