Smith was named Head Coach of the women's lacrosse program in June of 2025 after serving as the programs interim for the 2025 season. During which Smith led the Flyers this spring to their second most wins (6) in program history. In 2024 the Flyers set the record for wins in a season with nine, when Smith was an assistant coach.

In her first full season at the helm of the program after taking over as head coach midway through 2025, Smith led the Flyers to a 6-3 start, tying the program record for the best start to a season through nine games.
 
Individually, Smith coached and mentored four All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honorees as Jade McKinnon (Coquitlam, BC, Canada/Dr. Charles Best Secondary School) and Alexis Riley (Viola, Del./Caesar Rodney High School) were tabbed to the second team while Eliana Cappellini (Burnaby, BC, Canada/Burnaby North Secondary School) and Devyn Hartley (Coquitlam, BC, Canada/Dr. Charles Best Secondary School) each collected honorable mention accolades.
 
With Smith on the sideline, the Flyers ended the 2026 campaign ranked third in the GLVC for clears with 275 and second in total saves with 159. The Flyers also had two players earn GLVC Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards under Smith in 2026 as Daniella Winterlik (Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada/Terry Fox) was named the leagues offensive player of the week while Sophia Fountain (Berkeley, Ill./Montini Catholic High School) took home defensive player of the week accolades on March 23. Winterlik and Fountain joined Sarah Bradley as the only three players in program history to win a GLVC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Award since the Flyers joined the conference. 
 
Before Lewis, Smith was at Aurora University as an assistant coach from 2020-2024, where she also spent time as an interim head coach. As the interim coach she led Aurora to the NACC Conference championship and a NCAA Tournament appearance.
 
As a player, Smith was a four-year starter at Illinois Wesleyan University, where she got a Bachelors Degree in Psychology. She helped lead IWU to two NCAA Tournament appearances. She was the CCIW Defensive Player of the Year in 2018, was a three-time All-CCIW Defender and two-time First Team All-Region defender.
