ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis University baseball team extended its winning streak to nine with 8-2 and 12-4 wins over Rockhurst Saturday (April 15) at Brennan Field. Lewis completed its four-game sweep of the Hawks, outscoring them 59-12.

Game 1: Lewis 8, Rockhurst 2
Rockhurst scored both of its runs in the first inning before
David Ascencio (Joliet, Ill./Plainfield Central) homered to left field in the second to make it 2-1.
The Flyers broke open the game in the fourth inning with three runs as
Angelo Cantelo (Blue Island, Ill./Marian Catholic) doubled to right field, scoring
Michael Alt (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly). Ascencio singled, scoring
Kevin Barry (Bartlett, Ill./South Elgin) and an error led to the final run of the inning for a 4-2 lead.
Lewis scored three more runs in the fifth inning as an error led to another unearned run and Barry hit a two-run home run, scoring Cantelo.
Patrick Keaty (South Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) grounded into a double play, scoring
Cain Headrick (Custer Park, Ill./Providence Catholic) for the final run of the game in the sixth.
Fox and Ascencio had two hits each for the Flyers.
Luke Carlson (Granville, Ill./Putnam County) (2-1) picked up the win in relief, going four innings, allowing one hit and struck out four.
Game 2: Lewis 12, Rockhurst 4
Fox opened the bottom of the first with a home run for the Flyers. Barry added to the lead with a three-run home run in the bottom of the third, scoring Cantelo and Keaty. A
Tony Fleischauer (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) double scored
Jason Krol (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) to make it 5-0 after three.
Rockhurst got on the board in the fifth inning with a two-run homer to make the score 5-2. Lewis got those two runs back in the sixth as Headrick doubled home Krol and
George Bilecki (Chicago, Ill./Marist) hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Fleischauer.
A Barry single in the seventh inning made it an 8-2 game. The Hawks got two runs back in the eighth inning to make it 8-4.
The Flyers finished the scoring in the bottom of the eighth as Fox hit a grand slam to left center, scoring Keaty, Bilecki and Fleischauer.
Fleischauer went 3-for-3 to lead the way, while Fox (5 RBI), Barry (4 RBI) and Krol had two hits each.
Michael Sclafani (Oak Brook, Ill./Montini Catholic) (3-1) picked up the win, going six innings, allowing five hits and two earned runs.
