ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Lewis University baseball team dropped a pair of games to Maryville Saturday (April 1) at Weber Field. The Flyers lost the first game 9-0 and the second 9-5 in seven innings.

GAME 1: Maryville 9, Lewis 0
The Saints scored two in the first inning, one in the fourth, four in the fifth and one in the sixth en route to the win.
Thomas Fox (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Christian),
Angelo Cantelo (Blue Island, Ill./Marian Catholic),
Julian Everett (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln Way East) and
Daniel O'Brien (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) had hits for the Flyers.
Shane Gorman (Orland Park, Ill./Br. Rice) (0-4) suffered the loss for Lewis, while Ben Gregory (4-0) picked up the win,allowing three hits and striking out five in seven innings.
GAME 2: Maryville 9, Lewis 5
Maryville pulled ahead 7-0 with a run in the first, three in the fourth and three more in the fourth.
Lewis came back with its first runs of the afternoon in the top of the fifth inning as
Patrick Keaty (South Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) doubled home
Cherokee LeBeau (Shorewood, Ill./Minooka) and Fox reached on an error, scoring Keaty.
The Saints responded with two more in the bottom of the fifth to take a 9-2 lead. The Flyers came back with a rally in the top of the seventh.
Fox singled to score Keaty and then a pair of sacrifice flies from Cantelo and
Kevin Barry (Bartlett, Ill./South Elgin) made it 9-5. But a fly out by the next batter ended the game.
Jacob Kroeger (1-2) picked up the win for Maryville, allowing one earned run in five innings of work, striking out eight, while
Jake Karaba (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) (3-1) suffered the loss. Keaty had two hits two lead the Flyer offense.

The two teams will face off again Sunday for another double header beginning at noon.
