WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Lewis University baseball team ended its Spring Break Trip with a second consecutive win, defeating Malone 10-6 Saturday (March 10).

The win moved the Flyers to 5-7 on the year.

Connor Rutherford (DePere, Wis./DePere) went 3-for-4 in the game, while
Austin Tittle (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Anthony Cavalieri (Western Springs, Ill./Fenwick) and
Anthony Rios (Lemont, Ill./St. Laurence) had two RBI each, while
Trayvon Johnson (Berkeley, Ill./St. Joseph's) scored three runs.

Blake Marks (Gardner, Ill./Gardner-South Wilmington) (2-1) picked up the win, going three innings in relief, allowing two hits and one unearned run, striking out three.
Brady Kostecki (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) closed out the game in the ninth inning, allowing two hits and no runs.

Malone opened the scoring with three runs in the top of the first, but Lewis came right back with three runs in the bottom of the first. Rutherford and
Brandon Post (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) opened the inning with back-to-back singles and
Neal Tyrell (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) followed that with a double to score Rutherford. Johnson hit a sac fly to score Post and Tittle singled home Tyrell.

Malone came back with two runs in the top of the third for a 5-3 lead. Lewis responded in the bottom of the fourth to take its first lead of the game. Johnson singled and Tittle doubled to score Johnson. After a walk, Rios hit a two-run home run following a pickoff to give Lewis a 6-5 lead.

The lead was extended the following inning when
Ethan Bloom (Schaumburg, Ill./Hoffman Estates) homered and Cavalieri singled in Johnson later in the inning, who had reached on a walk as the Flyers took an 8-5 lead.

Malone scored one run in the top of the sixth, but the Flyers extended their lead in the bottom of the seventh with the final two runs of the game thanks to two errors and a sac fly from Cavalieri.

Lewis will open its home season Friday (March 16) at 3 p.m. when Grand Valley State comes to Romeoville for a four-game series.
