Kathryn Hague Named GLVC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week

Oct. 13, 2009

Romeoville, Ill. - The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced on Tuesday (Oct. 13) afternoon, that Lewis University junior Kathryn Hague (Chicago, Ill./Mt. Assisi) has been named the GLVC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the period ending October 11th.

Hague propelled the Flyers to a sixth-place finish at the UW-Parkside's 5K Lucian Rosa Open with a runner-up finish of 18:20.9 at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course. The Chicago, Ill., native owns the second-fastest 5K and 6K times in the GLVC this season.

"Kathryn had a great race in some terrible conditions at UW Parkside on Saturday," Lewis assistant women's cross country coach Rick Hammer said. "She's really on top of her game heading into the GLVC Championships and the Midwest Regional, which will also be on UW-Parkside's course."

This marks the second time this season that the GLVC has feted Hague, as she was named the Runner of the Week following her winning performance in the Bradley Open.

Lewis returns to action in two weeks, as they head to Louisville, Ky., to participate in the GLVC Cross Country Championships, hosted by Bellarmine, on October 24th at 10 a.m. (EST).

A Catholic university sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, Lewis offers nearly 80 undergraduate majors and programs of study, accelerated degree completion options for working adults, various aviation programs and 22 graduate programs in nine fields. The 10th largest private, not-for-profit university in Illinois is being honored for the sixth consecutive year by The Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report.
