Sept. 15, 2009
Romeoville, Ill. - The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced on Tuesday (Sept. 15), that Lewis University junior Kathryn Hague (Chicago, Ill./Mt. Assisi) has been selected as the Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week following her second-consecutive winning performance at the Bradley Open on Friday. Hague won the 5K College Division race with a time of 18:09, just six seconds behind University Division winner Katie Nowak (Bradley). The Chicago, Ill., native captured the same event last season with a time of 19:07 and was also named the GLVC Runner of the Week for her efforts. In the Flyers' 2009 opener, Hague was the first across the finish line at the Elmhurst Earlybird Invitational. "Kathryn is running tremendous races already this season," Lewis University head women's cross country coach Dana Schwarting said. "She worked hard over the summer so we expect big things out of her and the entire women's team." Lewis returns to action on Saturday, September 26th, as they travel to Minnesota to participate in the highly prestigious Roy Griak Invitational. A Catholic university sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, Lewis offers nearly 80 undergraduate majors and programs of study, accelerated degree completion options for working adults, various aviation programs and 22 graduate programs in nine fields. The 10th largest private, not-for-profit university in Illinois is being honored for the sixth consecutive year by The Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report.
