INDIANAPOLIS - The Great Lakes Valley Conference has announced that former Lewis University student-athlete, Theresa Dexl, will be joining the conference office to take on a ten-month internship. Dexl will be assisting in all aspects of GLVC operations, including media relations, championship administration, compliance and the GLVC Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Dexl will join the GLVC after graduating from Lewis University in May with a Public Relations degree and a minor in Marketing. She graduated with a 3.63 grade point average and was a four-year member of the Lewis cross country and track and field teams. Last summer, Dexl served as a Promotions and Public Relations Intern at Clear Channel Communications in Chicago. She assisted Clear Channel with website maintenance and event promotion. During her four years at Lewis, she was very involved in SAAC. She served as president her senior year and was chosen to be the NCAA Conference Initiative Grant Program SAAC representative. Under her guidance, the Lewis University SAAC raised the most money in the GLVC for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, collecting $1,479 during the academic year. The GLVC is a NCAA Division II league with 13 member institutions. It sponsors 17 men's and women's championships in nine sports. The conference, established in 1978, includes institutions from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri and Wisconsin. (release courtesy of GLVC) |
