EDWARDSVILLE - Freshman Terran Wertz finished 59th to lead the Lewis University women's cross country team at Saturday's NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Championship. Wertz ran the 6,000-meter route in 24:23.23. She placed 11th among 41 freshmen. Also competing for Lewis were junior Tarah Sobodas (68th, 24:32.55), sophomore Juliann Szablewski (105th, 25:37.06), freshman Theresa Dexl (107th, 25:41.42), freshman Becky Herbert (111th, 25:45.83), senior Traci Hoglund (137th, 27:33.26) and sophomore Amanda Hammond (141st, 27:58.53). The Flyers concluded their season by finishing 16th among 22 teams, but head coach Bob Schultz was pleased. "I think we ran well," Schultz said. "We beat Northern Kentucky and Southern Illinois Edwardsville, two teams that finished ahead of us two weeks ago at the conference meet." |
