BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - Sophomore Terran Wertz led the way for the Lewis University women's cross country team Saturday at the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Championship. Wertz finished 55th among 150 runners and covered the 6,000-meter course in 24:01.9. She was joined by junior Juliann Szablewski (80th, 24:41.1), sophomore Theresa Dexl (119th, 26:06.5), junior Amanda Hammond (136th, 26:46.2) and junior Tenleigh Ayers (140th, 27:00.5). The Flyers finished 21st in the team standings. "Terran did a very good job under the circumstances," Lewis head coach Rick Wemple said. "She's been sick, and her performance was not anywhere close to her best because of that. Juliann ran very well and turned in one of her better performances." |
