KENOSHA, Wis. - Terran Wertz finished 39th among 164 runners Saturday to lead the Lewis University women's cross country team at the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Championship. Wertz clocked a time of 23:26.4 on the 6,000-meter course. She was joined by Juliann Szablewski, (63rd, 24:03.6), Renee Koziol (96th, 24:39.8), Kristin Johnson (118th, 25:06.8), Theresa Dexl (125th, 25:20.3) and Amanda Hammond (137th, 25:46.4). The Flyers placed 18th in the team standings. "We looked good at the 3-mile mark, but we didn't finish as strongly as we would have liked," head coach Rick Wemple said. "We were shooting for 16th place and came up a little short. "Still, I'm very pleased about how the women competed this season, including today," Wemple added. "We were a greatly improved team, and that's important." |
