EDWARDSVILLE - The Lewis University women's cross country team placed 16th among 28 teams Saturday at the Border War Invitational.

The Flyers were led by Becky Herbert, who finished 54th in the 254-runner field and covered the 5,000-meter route in 19:46.43.

Terran Wertz (83rd, 20:20.57), Tarah Sobodas (89th, 20:28.56), Rachel Johnson (91st, 20:31.73) and Theresa Dexl (114th, 20:54.82) also were in the Flyers' scoring contingent. Also competing were Amanda Hammond, 157th (21:43.57); Traci Hoglund, 179th (22:26.14); Erin White, 219th (24:03.47); and Stormie Surles, 233rd (25:29.85).

Lewis competes at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Oct. 23 in Newport, Ky.
