ALEXANDRIA, Ky. - Lewis University won the men's competition and finished third in the women's standings Friday at the Northern Kentucky University Norse Cross Country Classic in Alexandria, Ky. The Flyer men scored 24 points to top Northern Kentucky (66), Indianapolis (71) and Marian (82). The tightly bunched women's field was led by Northern Kentucky (44), followed by Indianapolis (45), Lewis (53) and Marian (68). Andy Tremble led the Lewis men by finishing second in 25:49.87 on the 8,000-meter course. Juan Carrillo placed fourth (26:21.27), Braulio Benitez was fifth (26:32.78), Andrew Northrup placed eighth (26:49.76) and Josh Thompson finished 10th (27:08.12) to comprise the Flyers' scoring group. Also competing for Lewis were Larry Cardenas, 11th (27:08.88); John Fry, 13th (27:19.03); Darren Orange, 17th (27:39.61); Lamar Quinn, 20th (28:07.22); Adrian Myers, 22nd (28:29.96); Evan Sather, 24th (28:37.46); Jared Lauer, 25th (28:38.36); Chris Foley, 26th (28:42.20); Brandon Morreale, 29th (28:46.30); John Archer, 30th (28:47.54); Dustin Long, 31st (28:51.70); Emory Burdette, 32nd (28:52.30); Phil DeSantis, 37th (29:03.58); Brad Fox, 38th (29:05.46); Alberto Villa, 39th (29:07.08); Alex Nemeth, 51st (30:40.02); Jake Clary, 53rd (30:51.35); Mike Skinner, 55th (31:00.36); and Erik Donovan, 56th (31:01.20). Top competitor for the Flyer women was Becky Herbert, who placed fourth and covered the 5,000 meters in 19:52.41. Rachel Johnson finished sixth (20:43.51), Juliann Szablewski was 10th (21:01.04), Amanda Hammond placed 16th (21:27.41) and Theresa Dexl finished 17th (21:31.02) to complete the Lewis scoring contingent. Also running were Traci Hoglund, 25th (23:50.92), and Erin White, 29th (24:35.94). |
