LOCKPORT - Juliann Szablewski finished a solid 17th Saturday to lead Lewis University at the 20th annual Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Cross Country Championship.

Szablewski ran the 6,000-meter course in 24:35.2. She was joined by teammates Tarah Sobodas (37th, 26:00.7), Amanda Hammond (52nd, 27:11.6), Traci Hoglund (53rd, 27:15.0), Belinda Hawkins (62nd, 28:13.7) and Cathea Pitts (68th, 29:02.4).

The Flyers finished seventh in the seven-team field. Southern Indiana (27 points) won the GLVC title and was followed by Southern Illinois Edwardsville (53), Wisconsin-Parkside (91), Indianapolis (102), Northern Kentucky (133), Saint Joseph's (136) and Lewis (168).
