RALEIGH, N.C. - The Lewis University women's cross country team rode the 21st-place finish of Juliann Szablewski to finish eighth among 19 teams at Friday's Great American Cross Country Festival. Szablewski covered the 5,000-meter course in 21:40.3 for the Flyers, who scored 236 points. Tarah Sobodas finished 37th in 22:13.9, and Amanda Hammond placed 43rd in 22:40.2. Also competing for Lewis in the 122-runner field were Belinda Hawkins (80th, 24:14.5), Cathea Pitts (89th, 24:34.7) and Traci Hoglund (94th, 24:52.8). The Flyers compete at Beloit College's Old English Classic next Saturday. |
