Nov. 12, 2004 INDIANAPOLIS-- - Lewis University sophomore Theresa Nugent was named All-Great Lakes Valley Conference second team following a vote of the league's head coaches. Nugent, a 5-11 outside hitter, was the Flyers' primary offensive weapon and paced the team in almost every offensive statistic. She was Lewis' leader in kills (376), kills per game (3.72), aces (32) and points (440.5), and was second in hitting percentage (.261). Nugent ranked among the conference leaders in several categories. In GLVC matches only, she was 10th in kills per game (3.33) and points per game (4.00). In overall matches, she ranked fifth in kills per game and sixth in points per game. Nugent's selection marks the fifth straight season that Lewis has had at least one player earn All-GLVC recognition. This was the 49th time Lewis has had an all-conference honoree, and she becomes the 30th different Flyer volleyball player to be chosen All-GLVC since 1982. Lewis concluded its season 18-10 overall and 10-6 in the GLVC. The Flyers qualified for the GLVC Tournament for the 20th time in 22 years and earned the No. 5 seed. |
