Nov. 10, 2005 ROMEOVILLE - Lewis University junior right-side hitter/setter Sarah McKinney has been selected to the women's volleyball Academic All-District Five second team. The Academic All-District teams are selected by district members of the College Sports Information Directors of America and sponsored by ESPN The Magazine. A political science major, McKinney is one of 20 players voted to either the first, second or third Academic All-District team in District Five, which covers Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Minnesota. McKinney started 21 of the Flyers' first 23 matches this season before suffering an injury. She had a .204 hitting percentage, averaged 2.18 kills, 2.78 digs and 0.41 blocks per game, and tallied 24 service aces. McKinney has made the Lewis Deans' List every semester and is a two-time Academic All-Great Lakes Valley Conference selection and a two-time recipient of Lewis' Delahanty Award for academic excellence among student athletes. To be eligible for Academic All-District consideration, a student athlete must have reached sophomore eligibility, have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or higher and be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials. |
