Aug. 31, 2004 INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.--The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced that Lewis University sophomore Theresa Nugent was named GLVC co-Player of the Week in women's volleyball Aug. 31. Nugent was the Flyers' primary offensive weapon, helping lead the team to a 4-0 record in its opening weekend; She shared Player of the Week with Northern Kentucky's Kristin Koralewski. For the week, the 5-11 outside hitter averaged 4.50 kills per game, 3.14 digs per game and hit .291. She posted a career-high 18 kills in matches against both Mesa State and Montevallo, topping her old mark of 16 kills. She tied or bested her previous career high three times in four matches, and led Lewis in kills in three of four matches. Lewis plays its first home matches of the season Sept. 3-4 when it hosts the Flyer Festival. The tournament participants are Saginaw Valley State, St. Xavier and Winona State. Lewis faces Winona State at 7 p.m. on Sept. 3 and Saginaw Valley at 2 p.m. on Sept. 4. The complete tournament schedule can be found at www.LewisFlyers.com |
