Sept. 9, 2006 ST. LOUIS - Lewis pulled off one of the most remarkable comebacks in recent memory to defeat Missouri-St. Louis 23-30, 12-30, 30-25, 30-16, 15-12 in Great Lakes Valley Conference women's volleyball action on Saturday. Lewis, which improved to 8-3 overall and 2-0 in the GLVC with its sixth consecutive victory, posted a dismal .013 combined attack percentage in the first two games before rallying to defeat the Riverwomen (4-5, 1-1). The Flyers turned the tables in games three and four, holding UMSL to a combined .131 attack efficiency while hitting a solid .271 themselves. Stephanie Sagat (13 kills, 20 digs) and Theresa Nugent (12 kills, season-high 19 digs) registered kill-dig double-doubles for the Flyers, while setter Andrea Morrone directed the offense with 47 assists and added 11 digs. Sarah McKinney had 12 kills and nine digs, Kim Richards chipped in a career-high nine kills and a team-best .300 attack percentage, and Lauren Hatter continued her fine defensive play with 19 digs. |
