ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis opened the 2007 Flyer Festival with an impressive 3-0 (30-22, 30-25, 30-23) victory over the St. Cloud State Huskies at Neil Carey Arena. The win was the Flyers' fifth straight sweep. It was another impressive match for freshman Ashlee Lindish, who registered 18 digs. It was the second time she recorded 18 digs in a match this season. She also accomplished the feat against Francis Marion on August 24. Lindish also registered one of the Flyers' two aces of the match. Senior setter Andrea Morrone added 43 assists, her third 40 plus assist match of 2007. Sophomore Stephanie Sagat recorded a season high with 14 kills. Kim Richards registered double-digit kills (12) for a fourth time this season. The Flyers out-hit the Huskies .382 to .136 in the first game and took control on a 10-2 run. The second game was tied at 20 before Lewis scored ten of the final 15 points to take the game. Lewis held a .296 to .118 hitting advantage and out blocked the Huskies 7-5. Lewis' seven blocks were a season high. The Huskies' Emily Baldwin recorded a kill-dig double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs. Andreana Pieper notched a team-high 16 digs. The win improved the Flyers' record to 5-1. St. Cloud State fell to 3-3. The two squads are in action tomorrow in the second day of the Flyer Festival. St. Cloud State hosts St. Francis at 2 p.m. and the Flyers face Winona State at 7 p.m. |
