Lorelee Smith is in her third season as head women's volleyball coach and is the fourth head coach in the 35-year history of the Lewis women's volleyball program.

Smith has had a nearly perfect first two seasons at Lewis, winning back-to-back Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships and compiling an impressive 63-12 overall record. Her Flyers accumulated a school record 21 match GLVC win streak from 2007 to 2008. Lewis' 16-2 GLVC record in 2008 earned Lewis the right to host the conference tournament and win the GLVC Championship on their home court. The victory gave Lewis a perfect 19-0 mark at home and a 27 home match winning streak dating back to 2007 that ranks in the top 20 all-time in Division II history.

Stephanie Sagat, Rachel Ruedi and Sara deBuhr earned all-conference accolades. Sagat and deBuhr took home all-region nods.

Smith's 2007 Flyers recorded the highest winning percentage (.889, 32-4) in school history on their way to a GLVC Championship. The squad also set team records for sweeps (22), digs (2,561) and assists (1,923).

In the NCAA Tournament, Lewis recorded victories over Ashland and Indianapolis to advance to the Sweet 16. At the end of the year, the Flyers earned the No. 11 national ranking, Lewis' highest in the history of the Division II AVCA Poll.

Individually, four of Smith's Flyers earned all-conference honors. Setter Andrea Morrone earned all-region honors, two GLVC Player of the Week awards and one AVCA National Player of the Week Award during Smith's first season.

Prior to arriving at Lewis, Smith served as assistant women's volleyball coach at the University of Central Missouri for five seasons. At Central Missouri, Smith worked under head coach Peggy Martin, the winningest active head coach on the NCAA Division II level. The Jennies finished in the top 10 nationally and had nine All-America selections during Smith's time as an assistant.

Prior to joining the staff at Central Missouri, Smith served two seasons as girls' junior varsity volleyball coach at John Adams High School in South Bend, Indiana.

Smith played college volleyball at the University of North Carolina-Asheville under head coach Julie Torbett. An Academic All-America selection her senior season, Smith was a four-time all-conference and two-time all-region pick. She also was a Big South Conference Scholar Athlete. Smith finished her collegiate career as the university's, conference's and region's all-time assist record holder.

Smith has played volleyball professionally with the Midwest Professional Volleyball Association. She competes in the United States Volleyball Association and is a contracted tour player and spokesperson for Extreme Volleyball Professionals, a beach volleyball tour.

A native of Mishawaka, Indiana, Smith is a graduate of Mishawaka High School. She received her bachelor's degree in management/marketing from UNC-Asheville in 1998 and earned a Master of Business Administration degree from UCM.

Smith is married to Lewis head men's volleyball coach Dan Friend.
