Sept. 16, 2009 Fayette, Iowa - Lewis University freshman Jody Wagner (Avon, Ohio/Avon) impressed in her collegiate debut, as the Ohio native earned a second-place finish at No. 3 singles in the Upper Iowa Challenge over this past weekend. Sophomore Bayley Brown (Evansville, Ind./Evansville Central) claimed a third-place finish at No. 3 singles, while teammate Clare Kessler (Onalaska, Wis./Aquinas) also placed third at No. 5 singles. "Our ladies were short-handed, but they played hard and fought on the court," Lewis head women's tennis coach Brett Bridel said. Lewis returns to action on Friday, as they head to the ITA Midwest Regional, hosted by Indianapolis. A Catholic university sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, Lewis offers nearly 80 undergraduate majors and programs of study, accelerated degree completion options for working adults, various aviation programs and 22 graduate programs in nine fields. The 10th largest private, not-for-profit university in Illinois is being honored for the sixth consecutive year by The Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report.
