Mandy Satunas has come full circle. After spending the last five seasons as an assistant softball coach for Lockport High School, she has returned to Lewis as an assistant coach. Satunas, nee Driscoll, was a four-year starter at second base for Lewis head softball coach George DiMatteo from 1998-2001 and will work primarily with the Flyer hitters and infielders. During her senior campaign, Satunas played a key role in helping the Flyers advance to the 2001 National Championship game, as she was named to the All-Tournament team. That season was one for the record books, as Satunas belted a broke her own school-record with 68 hits on her way to being named an All-Region second team selection and All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors. Following the season, Satunas, who served as team captain, was also named a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American. As a junior, Satunas set a then-school record with 62 base knocks, as the Flyers won the Great Lakes Valley Regional Championship. Following the season, Satunas earned CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-American honors. Satunas, who graduated from Lewis in 2001, owned a 3.91 cumulative grade-point-average and was a four-time Brother David Delahanty award winner and made the Dean's list every semester. She is married to former Lewis baseball player Andy Satunas and the couple has a two-year old son, Drew. |
