ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University women's soccer team has earned a National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for the Flyers' work in the classroom during the 2007-08 school year. A total of 263 women's teams across all divisions posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher to earn the NSCAA Team Academic Award. It's the fourth time the Lewis women's soccer program has earned the NSCAA honor since the award began in 1996. "I'm very proud our academic success and Lewis' academic reputation," head coach Chris Koenig said. "I think our players understand how important it is to do well on the field and in the classroom." Lewis' 3.44 grade point average ranked third in Great Lakes Valley Conference. The 2008 season marked the first time the Flyers won four GLVC games in back-to-back seasons since 1997 and six overall contests in back-to-back years since 2000.
