FAYETTE, IOWA - Two unassisted goals by Courtney Kettel lifted Lewis to a 3-1 season-ending victory over Upper Iowa, Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference tilt. Kettel's first goal came at 35:00, giving the Flyers a 1-0 lead. With Lewis up 2-1, Kettel added the insurance marker, her fourth of the season, at 84:00. Jenna Volpi gave the Flyers a 2-0 advantage when she scored at 48:10 with an assist from Amy Foran. Volpi's goal was the 18th and final of her Lewis career, placing her ninth on the school's all-time scoring list. Erica Baedke registered Upper Iowa's only goal at 60:00. Flyers goalkeeper Lindsay Frederick stopped seven shots, giving her 138 saves for the season and 367 for her career. Her 138 saves this season represent the third highest single-season total in school history, while her 367 career saves goes down as the fourth most all time by a Flyer. Upper Iowa outshot Lewis 20-10 and registered 10 fouls compared to just two by the Flyers. Lewis ended its season 4-15-0. |
