ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois Edwardsville Cougars received goals from three different players in a 3-0 win over the Lewis Flyers, Tuesday afternoon in a conference game at the Lewis Soccer Field. The Flyers dropped to 2-9-0 (1-6-0) while the Cougars improved to 5-4-2 (3-3-2) for the season. Elizabeth Valenti put the Cougars on the board early when she blasted a feed from Jenny Kates over the reach of Flyers' goalkeeper Lindsay Frederick at 2:01. Correen Roark knocked in a loose ball at 10:58 for the Cougars' second goal, and Kates registered her second assist of the afternoon when she took a pass from Elizabeth Ball and fed Jessica Bretana who was able to roll one past Frederick at 47:33 for the third goal. The Cougars notched 27 shots in the game, compared to seven by the Flyers. Frederick collected nine saves, while Kim Roady was credited with the win for Cougars. The Flyers host their final two home games of the season this weekend, facing Bellarmine on Friday on Northern Kentucky on Sunday for Senior Day. Both games start at 2:30 p.m. |
