QUINCY, Ill. - The No. 20 Quincy Lady Hawks defeated Lewis 4-0 in a GLVC match on Friday evening. Quincy scored the only goal of the first half at 21:17 on an unassisted goal by Becky Fleming. The Lady Hawks got on the board quickly in the second half with a Jenna Boyko goal at 45:47, assisted by Megan Schwermer. Boyko kicked it in from 12 yards out into the top left corner off the cross from Schwermer. Quincy extended their lead just over a minute later with a header by Liz Werkmeister at 47:09. Becky Fleming and Jenna Boyko registered assists on the goal. Erin Conroy rounded out the scoring with a header inside the right post at 79:02. Liz Werkmeister and Becky Fleming notched assists on the score. For the Flyers, junior Anna-Sara Sedin and freshman Jessica Summers-Hernandez both registered two shots on goal. Juniors Caitlin Kelly and Courtney Kettel each recorded a shot on goal. Quincy held an edge in shots (16-11) and corner kicks (6-2). Quincy improved to (8-1-1, 5-0 GLVC) while Lewis fell to (3-6, 1-4 GLVC). The Flyers play again on Sunday at Southern Illinois Edwardsville. |
