LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Lewis Flyers and Bellarmine Knights played a tight scoreless game for 82 minutes until Bellarmine's Alissa Reuther scored late to give the Knights a 1-0 win Sunday afternoon in conference play. Reuther broke the tie at 82:42 (unassisted) on a 25-yard strike from the right side. It was Reuther's first collegiate goal The Flyers held the edge in shots (14-13) and shots on goal (6-5), but couldn't find the back of the net. Bellarmine goalkeeper Brittney Rogers blocked six shots and earned her first career shutout. Lewis' Andrea Iossi recoded three saves. Junior Bethanee Taylor and freshman Jessica Summers-Hernandez both had two shots on goal. Junior Sarah Ybarra and sophomore Amy Foran each recoded a shot on goal. The Flyers held a 7-3 edge in corner kicks. Both squads received one yellow card. Lewis fell to 2-3 (0-2) while Bellarmine improved to 4-2 (1-1). The Flyers host Missouri-St. Louis at noon Friday. |
