Sept. 3, 2007 MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan Wildcats defeated the Lewis Flyers 4-0 Monday afternoon in a non-conference road game. The Flyers dropped to 2-1 while the Wildcats improved to 3-0. Brittney Buchanan gave the Wildcats an early lead at 4:25 on an unassisted goal. Renee LeBlanc scored the Wildcats' second goal of the half at 23:06 (unassisted). At 57:45 Joanna Kiilunen added the Wildcats' third goal. Renee LeBlanc added her second goal of the game at 69:24. The tally was assisted by Amanda Gadomski. The Flyers were out-shot by the Wildcats 12-8. Seven of the Flyers' shots were on goal. One shot was blocked by the Northern Michigan defense, and goalkeepers Kara Music and Dana Bush saved the other six. Music earned the win for the Wildcats. Sophomore Ashley Devine recorded two shots on goal for the Flyers. The Flyers play their first conference game on Friday at Northern Kentucky at 5:00 p.m. The Flyers next home match is Sept. 14 against Missouri-St. Louis at noon. |
