Sept. 1, 2004
CHICAGO--The Lewis University women's soccer team opened the 2004 season with a 4-0 loss to Saint Xavier University. The Flyers (0-1) played scoreless through the first half, but a barrage in the second half put the game out of reach. The Cougars (3-0) scored two minutes into the second half to break the tie. SXU freshman Lissa Coby then tallied goals at 68:54, 82:12 and 87:12 to record a hat trick. Lewis goalkeeper Courtney Hutt stopped five shots in the first half and gave way to sophomore Lindsay Frederick in the second half. Frederick faced nine shots, stopping five in the second stanza. The Cougars held at 17-11 shots advantage and had six corner kicks to Lewis' zero. The Flyers will take to the road this weekend when they travel to Midland, Mich. for a pair of games. Lewis will face Northwood at noon Sept. 3 and then play Davis & Elkins (W.Va.) at noon Sept. 5. |
