June 22, 2007 ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Stagg High School golfer Courtney Everett (Palos Park, Ill.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Lewis University. Everett was a regional and sectional qualifier for two consecutive years in high school. She was named Most Valuable Player on her team as a junior and senior. Everett's lowest nine-hole round was a 38. She placed second at the MCAA with an 87 and placed fifth at the Oak Forest Invitational with a round of 84. Everett began playing golf in seventh grade. Her playing experience also includes the Illinois Junior Golf Association for three years, and this summer she is participating in the Illinois Women's State Amateur Championship. In the classroom, Everett was on the high honor roll and a member of the National Honor Society. Everett is the daughter of Robert and Karen Everett. Courtney is a powerful ball-striker and has tremendous potential to develop and challenge for a spot in the starting five as soon as she steps onto the course," Lewis coach Skip Steffey said. "Courtney has been working with local teaching pro Terry Lowe at Coghill in an effort to prepare for the more difficult college playing seasons. I have high expectations that Courtney will be a strong contributor for a long time." Everett is the third member of the 2007-08 women's golf recruiting class. She joins Courtney Kellogg (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West H.S.) and Sheila Connolly (Lemont, Ill./Providence Catholic H.S.). |
